Golden Hands win Ravico netball tourney

Golden Hands of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) at the weekend won 3rd annual Ravico Netball tournament when they piped Diamond Hands of Teshie Experimental Preparatory School ((TEPS)11-10 in the finals.

Golden Hands who won all their three matches, topped the league table with nine points, pushing their opponents to the second position with six points having lost one of their matches.

Kpone Heritage Ladies came third with three points while Redeemers Ladies was fourth with no points.

Golden Hands beat Heritage Ladies 29-9 in the first match while Redeemers lost 2-39 to Diamond Hands in the second match. Heritage lost 6-13 to Diamond Hands in the third match while Golden Hands whacked Redeemer Ladies 21-0 in the fourth match with Heritage beating Redeemers 14-4 in the fifth match.

The one day all-play-all tournament which was sponsored by Ravico Group of Companies was to select Ghana’s team for next year’s All African Games to be held in Nigeria.

Dr Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, Acting Chief Executive of the National Sports Council (NSC) said the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the NSC would do everything possible to ensure that the necessary equipment are provided for netball, basketball and handball.

Mr E.D. Nikoi, Chairman of the Netball Association of Ghana, praised the company for sponsoring the competition.

He congratulated the NSC and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for including netball in next year’s All Africa games for the first time.
