David Atuwo scored 78 points to win this year's Golden Tulip Hotel Open golf championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Sunday.
Kofi Addo placed second with 77 points, Kweku Okyere beat Kojo Duku, Isaac Quarshie and Kusi charamba on countback to take the third position after they had all scored 75 points.
Esther Antwi won the Ladies event with 85 points, Misenou Amu placed second with 83 points, Elizabeth Verkolf took the third position with 79 points, beating, Florence Etwi-Barimah on countback, Janet Tamakloe, was fifth with 78 points, while Mary Asafu-Adjaye placed sixth with 77 points.
The two-day 36-hole scrath event opened to amateur golfers from Achimota, Tema and Celebrity Golf Clubs was co-sponsored by Thomas Network Transportation (TNT), Golden Tulip Hotel and Royal Netherlands Embassy.
It attracted 150 golfers and saw the honouring of Mr Ishmael Yamson, President of the Achimota Golf Club and Mrs Selina Agyemang, Lady Captain of the Club by the sponsors for their immense contribution towards the development of the sport.
Nana Atta Nyamekye, Captain of the Achimota golf Club praised Golden Tulip for their sponsorship for the past six years and called on other corporate bodies and organisations to help develop the game.
Mr Thom Sheriff, General Manager of the Golden Tulip Hotel with the help of his wife, Elizabeth, presented prizes to the winners and gave the assurance that the hotel will expand next, year's competition to include more participation.
