Tema, Oct. 31, GNA-All is set for the maiden W.C. Tandoh Memorial Golf Championship scheduled for the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday, November 3.
Mr Akwasi Opoku, Competition Secretary of the club, who announced this at Tema on Wednesday, said the one-day 18-Hole Medal play which is open to amateur golfers throughout the country, is expected to attract over 100 participants.
He said It is being played in honour of the late Mr. W.C. Tandoh, Proprietor of the Celebrity Golf Club and Holiday Resort Limited.
Mr Opoku said there would be a special event for seniors aged 60 years and above for the Men and the Ladies, 55 years and above. The Competition Secretary named some of the golfers who would be playing as Joe Ohemeng, Captain of the Celebrity Golf Club, Joe Ampofo, David Nazareth and Mike Ezan.
Mona Captan, Florence Etwi-Barimah, Mary Asafu-Adjaye and Grace Afriyie are also expected to feature in the Ladies section. The Competition Secretary announced that the management, of the Celebrity Golf Club, had put in place, adequate preparations, including the irrigat ion of the Course, to ensure a very good and enjoyable and enjoyable. Six prizes would be awarded in the Men's event while five would go for the Ladies with three going to the seniors group.
