Head coach of Algeria Christian Gourcuff admits there is no clear-cut favourite in Group C of the 2015 Afcon.
Reacting to Wednesday night’s draw which pitched the Desert Foxes against Ghana, Senegal and South Africa, the former Lorient gaffer spoke to the website of the Algerian Federation.
“I think that is a tough draw; a very dense and homogenous group where all teams have a chance.”
"South Africa, I do not know very well but still, a good team and a sure value of African football. Ghana certainly failed this World Cup, but is a strong team which contains good players. Ghana remains one of the favourites for the competition,” Gourcuff continued.
“Meanwhile, Senegal has regained a competitive team these last years, and returned to the front of the continental scene. For me, no team is favourite in this group because all matches are difficult,” the Frenchman concluded.
Algeria who have hit form since their 2014 World Cup heroics will start the competition against South Africa in Mongomo on January 19.
The 1990 Afcon winners will then face the Black Stars four days later and square off with South Africa in their final group match on January 27.
