Former Ghana FA boss Lepowura MND Jawula has urged the government to emulate its Francophone counterparts by offering financial support to clubs that represent Ghana in the CAF inter-club competitions.
AshantiGold SC and Medeama SC need at least $800,000 to represent Ghana in this season’s edition of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.
Lepowura Jawula believes government’s support will motivate the clubs to perform above expectations.
“When clubs qualify to Africa as it is done in other countries, government should pay some amount of monies to them so that it can at least cover their flights and accommodation so that the clubs are free enough to pay bonuses that can motivate the players to give out their best,” the former GFA boss told Starr Sports.
