Accra, Sept 8, GNA - The Government has been commended for granting the wish of the Ga people to revert the former Ohene Djan stadium to its original name, Accra Sports Stadium.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Wednesday, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Odododiodioo constituency, Mr Daniel Nii Okai also praised the Mayor and members of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) for heeding to the voice of the people.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Government and the AMA for handing over the Community Centre in Accra to the Ga Traditional Council, which was built by the United Africa Company for the people of Accra for social activities.

Mr Okai said the AMA had been administering the Centre in trust for the people of Accra but decided last week to hand it over to the Traditional Council.

He recalled that petitions by members of the previous AMA to the Government of the New Patriotic Party to revert the former Ohene Djan Sports Stadium to its original name went unheeded.

Mr Okai praised the NDC Government for satisfying the Ga people by changing the name of the sports complex to its original name, Accra Sports Stadium, adding that, the Government of President John Evans Atta Mills has proved that it was a 93Listening government".

"This is a proof that the NDC government will honour its promises", he said and stated that the recent launch of new modules such as the Youth in road maintenance under the National Youth Employment Programme would create jobs under the 93Better Ghana Agenda".

Mr Okai said with these policies and other programmes yet to be outdoored, the NDC would be retained after the 2012 general election to continue its good work.
