Kumasi Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Felix Annan has called on the government to commit some funds into the local league in order to reduce player exodus from the country.
Annan who has been one of the longest-serving players in the Kotoko team stated that not all the players plying their trade in the Ghana league want to travel abroad but the huge financial burden on the clubs forces players to seek greener pastures elsewhere.
“I would like to plead with the government to commit some funds into the local league. The club administrators are doing their best so I would plead with government and the corporate bodies to also come on board and support our league” Annan told Asempa FM Sports.
“Players are moving into lower leagues outside Ghana because of financial difficulties. Other players abroad are able to play one club for so many years because they are comfortable but unfortunately that is not the case here” He added.
Felix Annan was part of the Ghana team that won the 2017 WAFU tournament in Cape Coast.
