Minister for Youth and Sports Mahama Ayariga has said that the government is looking at the possibility to slapping tax on certain products in other to accrue monies to fund sports in Ghana.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday in Accra the Hon. Minister said, "We are in a discussion to see a possible means of taxing certain hazardous products and channel it to sports development."
"Indeed I have been told that the original Accra Sports Stadium and the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi were all built by private bodies and handed to the government so I believe there is a lot that the co operate bodies could do to help fund sports in Ghana."
"I think that some co operate industries can even go to the extent of adopting certain clubs and disciplines and brand them to suit their taste," he added.
