The government plans to commission five Multi-purpose Youth Resource Centers in the coming months as construction is set to resume. Work at these centers had previously stalled due to financial challenges.
Pius Enam Hadzide, Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, announced that Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif has directed him to ensure work restarts on these projects.
Ussif has also assured that the necessary funds will be provided.
Hadzide confirmed that the Minister instructed an expedited process to complete five of the six facilities, with the governing board recently adding another project.
“The Minister's instructions were that we should expedite action and ensure the prompt completion of five out of the six facilities. Along the line, the governing board added one,” Hadzide told reporters.
“So, as we speak, six of the youth resource centers are very advanced. One having been commissioned is now in use. From today's meeting, we are hopeful that in the coming days, work will resume on all of the other five.
“And we are hopeful that within the coming months, we should commission the five other projects and then we can put them to use.”
