Accra, July 24, GNA - The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) will officially launch the rLG Ghana Grand Prix Athletics 2011 on Monday, July 25, in Accra.
The Ghana Grand Prix will be sponsored by rLG Communications, Tullow Oil, Unibank, MultiTV and Ghana Television with print media partners including Africa Sports, The Herald, dailyEXPRESS and The Informer.
Bawah Fuseini, General Secretary of the Association, in a statement issued in Accra, said the innovative international track and field meet would for the first time bring to Ghana, athletes from various countries to compete for honours.
“We have confirmed and would on Monday unveil athletes that have signed up for the Ghana Grand Prix from Jamaica, Kenya, USA, Canada, Ethiopia, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Uganda and Nigeria”, Mr. Bawah stated.
The statement said that a number of Ghanaian athletes based abroad and many of the home based one’s would also take part in the event scheduled for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.
