Ghana coach Avram Grant says he was impressed with the effort of his team in their 1-1 draw against Canada in an international friendly match on Tuesday.

Middlesbrough’s Albert Adomah got on the end of a brilliant team move to equalise for the Black Stars after Marcel De Jong had beaten goalkeeper Razak Braimah with a 35-yard free kick.

Grant feels the outcome of the game reflected the overall pattern of play even though he reckons Ghana has enough chances later on to win it.

“It was a good friendly game for us. It was a god opoprtunity to see other players and test a few things”, he said. “Of course we wanted to win but it has showed me a lot of things to think about and give other players a chance which is very important for me. First half we didnt play well, second half we dominated completely and had chances to win.”

Grant gave debuts to Phil Ofosu-Aryeh, Lloyd Sam, Kwadwo Poku and Gideon Baah all as substitutes in the second half and says he was impressed with the output.

“When I came I said I will have a big squad to choose from for each game. All the players have the potential to be in the Ghana national team. I cannot tell after this game if I will use them again or not but it has given us a few things to think about. we will continue to check players and as you know there are Ghanaian players around. I don’t want that we will have 20 or 22 players in the squad. We need a big but quality squad.”
