Allsports.com.gh can exclusively confirm that US based forward, Lloyd Sam has been called into the Ghana national football team ahead of the international friendly against Canada in Washington on Tuesday.

31-year-old Lloyd Sam will get a chance to make his international debut after Coach Avram called him as a last gap replacement for a host of top stars who will missing for the national team, among them captain Asamoah Gyan, his deputy, Dede Ayew, Christian Atsu and Rabiu Mohammed.

Lloyd Sam, son of former Ashgold bigwig and Aspire Football Dreams Country Director, Capt. Andy Sam previously earned a call-up to the Black Stars in 2009 but pulled out due to a hamstring injury at the last minute.

Not anymore though, Sam will finally get his Ghana chance on Wednesday night after earning the late call from Avram Grant.

Sam is in fantastic form for Red Bulls in Major League Soccer (MLS) banging in 10 goals in 25 league starts this year and has scored in all of the last three games for New York who top the Eastern Conference standings.
