Immediate-past Black Stars coach Avram Grant’s much publicized $50,000 monthly salary is not true, the Ghana FA has said.
The former Chelsea boss who left the Ghana senior national team job at the end of his 27-month contract in February was heavily criticized for giving back little for the supposed amount he received for his work.
Speaking to Henry Asante on StarrSports’ Extra time show Saturday, spokesperson for the country’s football governing body Ibrahim Sannie Daara refuted the claims saying:
“Ghana did not pay Avram Grant $50,000 salary. His take home was about… [pauses]. I don’t know if I’m allowed to mention.
“[Yes] he is gone but you have always the case where one day you would be told you have an NDA [Non-Disclosure Agreement] but he was not paid close to [the $50,000].
“We said it consistently [that it was not true] but because of the contract you have, you are not obliged to put out the figure…” the Ghana FA spokesperson added.
Grant is also record to have laughed off talks of receiving the said amount in a Starr Chat interview where he put a bet on the claims that he would share the money with whoever confirms such a figure.
