Head coach of the Ghana senior ‘A’ team, Avram Grant, has been confirmed to be joining the Ghana contingent at this year’s Cosafa Cup tournament.
Grant’s presence will be to monitor and assess possible invitees from the Local Black Stars team which is managed by his assistant Maxwell Konadu, the Ghana FA President, Kwasi Nyantakyi has revealed.
According to Kwasi Nyantakyi, the Grant is committed to giving deserving local players a chance in the senior team hence the decision to have a close look at the team who are camping in Obuasi in preparations towards the Cosafa Cup in South Africa.
“The team will leave on the 14th [of May]. I think the tournament starts three days later,” the Ghana FA boss stated on the local Black Stars’ participation at the Cosafa tournament.
“Coach Avram Grant will join them. It shows the important he attaches to the team. They are the best from the local league.”
“We want to go there [South Africa] and make a good impact. We want to progress from there ahead of our Chan qualifiers,” said Nyantakyi.
The Local Black Stars have a big date with West African neighbours Ivory Coast later in October.
Ghana are first time guests at the competition set for May 17-30.
