A late Maxwell Abbey’s superb half volley secured a 2-1 victory for Great Olympics against Liberty Professionals in Week 15 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The Dade Boys started the game slightly on top with superb inter-passing display to the delight of the vociferous fans at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Olympics fantastic performance saw them open the scoring in the 22nd minute through Maxwell Abbey Quaye.

But Liberty fought back to pull level courtesy Elvis Kyei-Baffour’s expertly taken penalty on the stroke of half time.

Olympics picked up from where they left off in the first half by controlling the pace of the match but could not find the breakthrough.

Liberty meanwhile went close to doubling their tally in the 57th minute. Danger man Kyei Baffour went past three Olympics players but lacked the cutting edge as his low shot went wide.

The Dansoman-based side thought they had gotten the lead in the 60th minute but Mubarak Alhassan’s weak shot was cleared off the line by Matthew Ofori.

Despite the visitors being on top of the game, it was Olympics who looked threatening.

In the 82nd minute, the hosts regained their lead through Maxwell Quaye again. The captain guided his half volley into the roof of the net after Liberty failed to deal with a corner kick.

Olympics has a huge chance to seal the points but Yaw Obuoba’s hurried shot went agonizingly wide.

The Wonder Club held on to record their fifth victory of the season.

The result pushed Olympics to 12th on the table with 17 points, with Liberty dropping to 14th spot.
