English-Ghanaian midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has hailed his competitive major tournament debut for England as a great start to the 2024 European Championships.
The 19-year-old Man United youngster was introduced in the 86th minute for Jude Bellingham who scored the winning goal for the Three Lions against Serbia on Sunday.
After the game, Mainoo took to social media to express his delight at appearing at the Euros for England.
“Competitive debut and a great start to the tournament.”
Kobbie Mainoo made his fourth appearance for the Three Lions as they secured a 1-0 victory against Serbia in their opening game of the 2024 European Championships in Germany.
This match marked Mainoo's debut in a major tournament and his first competitive appearance for England.
By playing in this game, Mainoo ruled out the possibility of representing Ghana.
Before Sunday's match, Mainoo had only made three non-competitive appearances for the Three Lions and remained eligible to play for the Black Stars if he chose to.
