Founder and President of King Faisal Football Club, Alhaji Abdul Karim Grunsah has called on all football loving Ghanaians to offer collective prayers to support newly appointed Management Committee Chairman of the Black Stars, Mr. George Afriyie to ensure his success.

George Afriyie, was appointed the Management Committee Chairman of the Black Stars, a position which hitherto was handled by the President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Mr. Nyantakyi came under immense media criticism following the poor showing of the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil amidst calls for him to resign from the position of Black Stars Management Committee Chairmanship.

It is deduced that reasons of transparency and accountability, which the FA President himself considers vital, informed his decision to step down and appoint George in his stead.

Alhaji Grunsah, who coincidentally has a direct involvement in the delayed start of the domestic league, due to a court order he sought to halt the processes which will commence the season, has, in the wake of George’s appointment, entreated all Ghanaians to seek divine guidance for him to succeed, as the task ahead of him is daunting.

In an exclusive interview with sportscrusader.com, Alhaji Grunsah approvingly giggled over the appointment and said, “George Afriyie can do the job but we have to pray for him. He has achieved a lot in football especially at the U-20 level and I think if we all support him with prayers, he can achieve”.

Asked whether he is of the opinion that George Afriyie may be overwhelmed by the task, hence his giggling, Grunsah said, “I am not laughing because I think he cannot do it. He can do it, why not? Sometimes those that we think cannot perform certain tasks, they perform to the fullest. So let us support him with prayers, he can do it”, he added.

Mr George Afriyie has seen his reign as Management Committee Chairman for the Black Satellites identify talents like Baba Rahman who is currently the first choice left back for the Black Stars and has also overseen the 2013 Black Satellites squad make it to the semi finals of the U-20 World Cup in Turkey.
