Accra, Sept. 12, GNA - Greater Accra put up a highly spirited performance in both boys and girls division to lift the coveted trophies in the first-ever handball tournament in the inter-regional schools and colleges sports festival currently taking place at Ho in the Volta region.
The region came from behind to win the boys division 14-13. Playing before of a large crowd at OLA Sec School, Greater Accra trailed 6-7 at half time but bounced back to carry the day. Earlier, Ashanti region lost 5-9 to Greater Accra in the Female encounter in an equally exciting final match.
In the third placed match, Ashanti region beat Northern region 17-12 while Central region also beat Northern region 12-4 in the girls division.
All the Semi finalists have automatically qualified for the First Franco-Ghanaian National School Handball Championship slated for Accra later in the year. 12 Sept.2003
