"Guinness Challenge Gold Cup" race postponed

This year's Guinness Ghana Limited "National Challenge Gold Cup" horse racing scheduled for the Accra Race Course on Saturday, January 4, has been postponed to January 11.

A spokesman for the Accra Turf Club (Race Course) who announced this in Accra on Friday said the postponement was at the request of the sponsors.

He announced that "Star President Challenge Cup", to be sponsored by Ghana Breweries Limited, takes place on January 25, to round off the activities for the year 2002.

The spokesman said the "Grand Stand Handicap" would also take place at the Accra Race Course on Saturday.

The 1,400-metre (seven-furlong) race is open to first and second division A horses.
