Black Stars hit-man fAsamoah Gyan has resumed his cultured duties upfront as he netted a double for Al Ain in their fight-from-behind 4-1 trouncing of Ittihad Kalba in the Arabian Gulf League on Friday evening.
The Ghana captain who scored on his return from injury on Saturday had to marshal the show and stamp out the hosts’ resistance at their own backyard.
It was a double strike in two minutes – 61st and 62nd minutes. The double ended any possible Ittihad fightback as Al Ain strolled to victory and claim their first win since October 22.
Portuguese forward Luis Leal had broken the virginity of the duel with a brilliant finish in the 18th minute but Mohamed Abdulrahman equalised a minute later before Diaky Ibrahim established a lead for Ain.
It was then the time for Gyan to take over the show at the Ittihad Kalba Club Stadium as Ain continued their dominance over the bottom-placed club.
Just after the hour, the Black Stars record-scorer claimed a pass from Mohammed Fawzi before finishing with a patent strike.
A minute later, he added the second and sealed the win for Ain – their first in four games.
Th brace has taken Gyan’s tally to five goals this season in the league.
