Gyan ruled out for six weeks

Ghana will be without striker Asamoah Gyan for next month's World Cup qualifier away to Libya after being ruled out of action for six weeks.

The 22-year-old complained of pains in his right thigh after playing for French club Rennes in a league game on Sunday.

Tests have now revealed that he tore some ligaments and will not return to action until October.

This means is he will not be in Tripoli when the Group Five leaders take on Libya in the crucial 2010 World Cup qualifier.

Gyan returned from a six-month injury lay-off this summer and has struggled to recapture his scoring form.

He joined Uefa Cup campaigners this term in "dubious" fitness state and this early injury could throw his plans out of gear.
