George Baffuor Gyan, father of Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan, says he could take legal actions against a media house that ran a report quoting him to have said the Black Stars striker was actually 40 years of age.
The Shanghai SIPG forward marked his 30th birthday with a lavish celebration at his multi-million dollar ‘Basilica de Baby Jet’ mansion in Accra on Saturday. A host of celebrities and A-list public personalities were in attendance.
Days after the party, a local news portal reported that Gyan’s father had expressed disdain on his son’s announcement of his age at the party as 30.
“I am very shocked by these reports,” George told Montie FM.
“How and where did I say that Asamoah Gyan is 40? How old is even my first born?
“I have never granted an interview with anyone or any media house. I have four children with the first being a lady and the last being Asamoah.
“I just can’t understand how someone will make such a publication. Perhaps, these reports are motivated by jealousy because I just can’t understand.”
George added that he could go to court over the issue.
“It is very clear that some people want to use all means necessary to destroy my son but he is blessed and no one can destroy him,” George said.
“I have reported the issue to my lawyer to look into it. We have to take serious issues with this report as it is a very dangerous plot to disgrace my son.”
Asamoah is Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 48 goals as well as Africa’s highest scorer at the Fifa World Cup with six goals.
