At 34-years-old and currently a free agent after leaving NorthEast United in the Indian Premier League, Gyan is winding down one of the most interesting careers of an African footballer.

Often questioned for his career decisions, having left the Premier League for the riches of the United Arab Emirates as he career promised to blossom into superstar status, the Ghana all-time record scorer divides opinion.

But as one of the 10 richest African footballers in the history of the game, his talent for creating wealth cannot be ignored and in fact, needs to be lauded.

The Gyan empire

With a reported net worth of $30-million (R550m) as of 2020, despite the lavish lifestyle and extravagant spending over his colourful career, the Ghana legend has managed to invest in several lucrative opportunities.

From his own personal water bottle brand, personalised rice and noodles to more sophisticated Public Relations Companies and petrol station franchises.

According to Africa Facts, the chain of Gyan Group of Companies is being run by his close associate, Samuel Anim Addo.

To put his business mindset into perspective, the success is based on resonating with his devout fans in Ghana, was taken to a whole new level back in 2017.

Gyan obtained a license from the government, to operate an airline in the home nation. Coined by his nickname 'Baby Jet', the airlane announced by President Nana Akufo-Addo was reportedly started off as a cargo handling route.

However, it is expected to develop within the sub-regions and eventually, it's believed to be mooted as a fully-fledged international airline.
