Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan wants a massive attendance at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday as a show of appreciation to Stephen Appiah who is playing his testimonial match.
The former Juventus midfielder is hosting several world football stars to two major events as he bids his final goodbye to the sport that made him so famous and influential.
Appiah in January announced his retirement from football which spanned close to two decades.
He is best remembered for his immense leadership skills in guiding the Black Stars to two successive World Cup finals.
Appiah now wants to use the testimonial to thank the fans who gave him their all during his active playing career.
And Asamoah Gyan wants a befitting send-off for his former captain with a massive attendance at the Stadium.
“Stephen Appiah has served the nation for a long time and this is the time we need to honour him,” he said.
“I urge that we come out in our numbers to support him.”
