Black Stars defender Edwin Gymah and Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Morrison both featured in Orlando Pirates’ 1-0 win over Chippa United whilst Black Satellites graduate Joseph Adjei sat on the bench for Cape Town City on Tuesday.

Gymah continued with his commanding performances at the heart of the Buccaneers defence as they secured their third consecutive win under interim coach Augusto Palacious.

Zimbabwean hitman Tendai Ndoro scored his ninth goal in as many games for Pirates.

Former Ashanti Gold midfielder, Morrison, who joined the Premier Soccer League club from DR Congo club AS Vita at the beginning of the current campaign, was brought on for the final 12 minutes as Pirates hung on to win 1-0.

This was the Black Star’s hopeful seventh appearance for his new club.

Having made his debut appearance for Cape Town City in a 2-1 win over Chippa United on Saturday, Adjei was an unused substitute as City claimed another win on Tuesday to temporarily occupy the top spot.

The Mother City side came from a goal down to beat Maritzburg United 3-2 at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.

City’s central defence duo Tshepo Gumede and Robyn Johannes both picked up cautions which rule them out for the upcoming weekend’s Telkom Knockout semi-final.

This has opened the door Adjei as he could make his full debut for the Eric Tinkler coached outfit.

The Ghanaian is expected to partner Latvia international Renars Rode at the heart of the Citizen’s defence when they take on Free State Stars on Saturday.

Meanwhile, there is no word yet for Black Stars and Wa All Stars goalkeeper Richard Ofori, who is on trial at Cape Town City, with the club currently focused on the Telkom Knockout semi-final.
