The Ghana Handball Association (GHA) in collaboration with the International Handball Federation (IHF) conducted a three-day training programme for physical trainers of the sport selected at the various High schools in Ghana.
The event dubbed “High School handball” is meant to teach the various physical instructors – participants the new rules in the sport and the new techniques being employed by countries who are excelling at the game of handball.
Maria Estriga an expert in the game and a member of the Handball Association of Portugal was the leading facilitator after her appointment by the IHF to lead the crusade to revive the sport in Ghana.
In an interview with sportscrusader.com Mr. Charles Amofa the coordinator of the sports clinic and a member of the GHA, said they were delighted organising the training session for teachers.
He said, “it’s an international handball federation sponsored event that seeks to train the physical instructors of the various Senor High Schools”.
“We are training the pyhsical trainers to unearth the talents for the nation and we believe a good training will enable them to train the students well when they return to their various schools,” he added.
The event in Accra is hosting three other regions namely,Greater Accra, Eastern and the Volta region. The next stop for the clinic will be Sekondi-takoradi.
