Pacquiao vs. Mosley Undercard: Narh Bows out of Title Bout

Sat, 7 May 2011 Source: --

Mike Alvarado figured he’d have his hands full when he stepped into the ring with the far more experienced Ray Narh. He’s a well known fighter, and with the Super Lightweight title on the line, he never expected that he would find himself as part of a submission match.

But submit is exactly what Narh did.

Just two rounds into the fight Narh refused to come out of the corner, handing the victory over to Alvarado.

While the move seemed a bit cowardly, the reality may have been that Narh wasn’t really ready for the fight. He had agreed to take on the undefeated Mike Alvarado on just three weeks’ notice and was dealing with personal issues as it had been months since he had seen his daughter, who lives in Ghana.

While it’s odd that he would take a fight only to leave so early is strange, but considering the fight that the fight had been even, with maybe only a slight edge to Alvarado seemed even stranger.

Now Alvarado has won the vacant title and will have another win on his record, but this fight was more of a loss for Ray Narh.
