Handball team wins honours in Benin

Accra, Aug 11, GNA - The National Female Volleyball team has emerged as the overall best team in the sub- region at the just ended West Africa Zonal Handball Championship in Benin.
The team won gold at the end of the event.
The National Sports Council (NSC) on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports and government has sent a congratulatory message to the team for their excellent performance.
'To defy all odds and emerge as the ultimate winners in the tournament is no mean achievement'.
A statement signed by Mr Samuel Amakwah, Deputy Director on behalf of the NSC copied to the GNA Sports said.
It said the performance of the team, which comes after the acclaimed performance of the country's footballers and boxers strengthens the government's commitment to resource the sports sector more to enhance the nation's international image.
The NSC urged the players to train harder and exercise discipline and commitment for the game in their preparations for imminent international tournaments to maintain the name of Ghana on the volleyball map.
