Asante Kotoko new recruit Frank Sarfo Gyamfi said it is a great news the local league is finally taking off January 18, insisting that every player in Ghana will be happy with the latest development.

The 21-year-old player joined the Porcupine Warriors a few months ago to save his career after a limited playing time in South Africa, but things went from bad to worse when the league was delayed due to litigation.

“It's a great news for everyone because we've waited for long, I believe this will help get our career back on track,” Gyamfi told Goal Ghana. “With the league starting, hawkers and retailers will also sell their goods at the stadiums and other places which will put smiles on the faces of everyone.”

He added: “My aim before joining Kotoko is to help them win trophies and I don't think we can win any trophy while not playing as expected.”

The former Wa All Stars icon also believes the defending league champions can win the league title once again, noting that they will treat every match with all importance.

“The fixtures are out and we now know the clubs we’re playing but I know we will take them game after game and with all seriousness. Every club is capable of causing an upset but we will defend the title very well and eventually win it once again,” he added.

Gyamfi was part of the Ghana Under-20 squad that won bronze in the 2013 Fifa World Youth tournament in Turkey.
