Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed his disappointment following Leicester City's defeat to Aston Villa in the Premier League.

The Black Stars winger lasted 68 minutes as the Foxes succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Belgium international Amadou Onana opened the scoring for Aston Villa in the 28th minute, giving them the advantage at halftime.

The visitors doubled their lead in the second half after Jhon Duran found the back of the net in the 63rd minute. Leicester City pulled one back in the 73rd minute through Facundo Buonanotte but ultimately succumbed to defeat.

“Thanks to the fans for their amazing support. A hard one to take, but we learned some positive things from it and we focus on the next,” Issahaku wrote on Instagram.

Issahaku was replaced by Bilal El Khannous in the much-anticipated clash, while his compatriot Jordan Ayew lasted 67 minutes.

The duo will travel to join the Black Stars camp ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

Ghana will host Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, September 5, before traveling to face Niger in Morocco on September 9, 2024.
