Haringey Boxing club wraps up Ghana tour on June 22

Accra, June 21, GNA - The Haringey Boxing Club will wrap their five-day tour of Ghana with an international tournament against their hosts, the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) on Monday, June 22 billed for the Prisons Canteen, Cantonments in Accra. The tourney will mark the final test for the United Kingdom based boxing club who are on their second trip to Ghana.

The Haringey Club and the GAABA team had earlier thrilled boxing fans last Friday in a similar championship at the same venue. Both clubs won four bouts each at the championship which was graced by National Sports Council (NSC) Chief Executive, Worlanyo Agrah, Chief Administrative Officer of NSC, Charles Aryeh, Moses Foh-Amoaning - Chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority, WBC Hall of Fame inductee and former Featherweight champion, Prof. Azumah Nelson among others. In a Featherweight clash, Joshua Barnor of GAABA defeated Haringey's Sam Ojomo via a unanimous decision whilst compatriot David Bawa stopped Mark Mckierman in the second round of their Light heavyweight contest.

GAABA's Ardey Aryee outclassed David Cinko of Haringey via a majority decision just as Moses Dormenyo also defeated Craig Doyley of Harringey unanimously, both in the Welterweight division. In the Middleweight division, Kingsley Okoli of Haringey managed a split decision victory over GAABA's Emmanuel Adjei, whilst Luke Robinson also of Haringey eased past Daniel Nartey of GAABA via a majority decision in their Heavyweight clash.

Haringey's Johnny Archer defeated Ebenezer Sowah of GAABA via a split decision in a Welterweight clash. In a female contest, Leah Flinthan of Harringey proved too hot to handle for GAABA's Sylvia Buckbride as she chalked a unanimous win. The Haringey Club also presented boxing gloves to each of GAABA's participant in the championship. The tournament was sponsored by Duaf International Limited, sole distributors of Ozone Energy drink. 21 June 09
