Haringey Police and Community boxing team donates gloves to Association

Accra, Feb 17, GNA - A United Kingdom based boxing club, Haringey Police and Community team has presented six pairs of boxing gloves to the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA). The gloves worth ?300 (three hundred British pounds) was presented to the boxers who represented the GAABA team in an international amateur contest with their counterparts from the United Kingdom last Saturday. Ken Marsh, a Police Officer and an official of the Haringey Police and Community team said the donation is to enhance the activities and programmes of GAABA.

He commended the Association for the kind reception accorded them since their arrival in Accra last Friday. Gideon Quartey, GAABA Chairman thanked the donors for their support and challenged local institutions and organizations to emulate the efforts of the foreign counterparts.

The Haringey Police and Community team is also to donate a state-of-the-art boxing ring valued at ?5000 (five thousand British pounds) to the Association to round off their tour to the country. The boxing ring is however currently locked up at the custody of the port authorities awaiting clearance. 17 Feb. 08
