Sekondi Hasaacas's preparations for the opening game of the Ghana Premier League suffered a major pounding as players failed to show up for training on Tuesday over long-standing unpaid salaries and bonuses.
Head coach Yusif Basigi has confirmed to Accra-based Happy FM on Wednesday: "[Yes, only 12 players showed up for training on Tuesday and this is due to unpaid salaries and bonuses due to the players."]
Hasaacas's management have not paid their players from last season due to stifling financial problems that is crippling the Western region club.
The Hasmal club open their 2016 Premier League campaign with a long trip to the Upper West regional capital - Wa, to face Wa All Stars.
Basigi - head coach of the club is eager to get his regulars fitted into his training regime before naming his final squad for the trip.
"[I will personally go to where they are based and talk to them to resume training. I know its difficult,]" he added.
Hasaacas have landed for Asante Kotoko goal-machine Eric Bekoe on a free transfer and defender Philip Boampong who was released by Hearts of Oak on transfer deadline day.
The Hasmal also have experienced goalkeeper George Owu, who was at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, in their folds.
