Hasford wins Easter Chess Championship

Accra, April 10, GNA-John Hasford collected five points from five games, to win the National Easter Open Chess championship played at the North Ridge Hotel in Accra on Monday.

Gabriel Brown took the second position with four points, while Edward Thompson placed third with three points.

More than 50 players drawn from all the regions took part in the competition, which served as one of the training sessions lined up by the association unearth more talents.

The one-day competition, which formed part of activities marking the celebration of the Easter and the 50th Anniversary of Ghana's Independence was sponsored by Ghana Chess Association(GCA). Mr. Edward Thompson, Tournament Director of the GCA called on corporate bodies to help develop the sport.
