Arsenal secured their second win of the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 victory over Ukrainian side FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
An own goal from Shakhtar goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk in the 29th minute gave the Gunners a hard-fought victory, pushing them to the top ranks of the table.
The standout players for Arsenal in the game were Thomas Partey, David Raya, and Gabriel Martinelli, whose shot forced the own goal from the goalie.
Partey, who started in midfield but ended at right back, was incredible for the team as he kept pulling the strings for Arsenal.
Defensively, he won two out of four tackles, made two clearances, one interception, and four successful recoveries.
In attack, the 30-year-old Ghanaian had 91 touches, completed 13 passes into the final third, and was not dribbled past for the entire duration of the game.
His performance did not go unnoticed, as Arsenal fans on social media hailed him for being impressive in the game.
The Ghanaian midfielder has not missed a game for Arsenal this season, with his form peaking in the last four matches.
With Arsenal hit by injuries, Thomas Partey is one of the players Mikel Arteta will be counting on to get a good result against Liverpool on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

Partey is still everyone’s dad in that midfield.

We could not hold possession as soon as he was moved to the right.
Let’s speak with full respect to his name.

Thomas Partey is currently on his most consistent run of games for Arsenal in years.
He’s not just playing more minutes, but he’s also playing at a level which we haven’t seen since 2022.
