Hearts Directors to hold emergency meeting

Directors of Hearts will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday in the wake of looming crisis that threatens their ambitions in the Ghana top flight this season.

The capital-based club have flattened to deceive this term where three successive defeats in the League have left them just above the relegation zone.

It has been widely reported in the local media that a major shake-up is likely to hit the club after today’s meeting with the future of under-fire coach CK Akunnor high on the agenda.

There is growing mutiny in camp after goalkeeper Sammy Adjei and midfielder Esme Mends exchanged blows at the team’s training grounds.

Mends demanded an apology from Adjei over using some unprintable words on goalkeepers’ trainer Abubakar Damba after the latter questioned his competence following their 3-1 defeat against Ebusua Dwarfs.

Physical trainer WO Tandoh has resigned from the club after an altercation with team manager Patrick Madjitey.

The long-standing physical instructor has also accused management of setting up a trap for head trainer CK Akunnor.

He claims ex-Chief Executive Fred Crentsil did little to secure the services of top notch players for the club during the off-season but rather opted to purchase sub-standard players.

He claims Akunnor’s preferred choice of Yakubu Mohammed (Ashantigold), Godfred Saka (Aduana), Rashid Sumaila (on-loan at Kotoko), Hans Kwoffie (Medeama) and Richard Mpong (Kotoko) were overlooked for second-rate performers like Seth Owusu, Richard Addai and Emmanuel Ansong.

Wednesday’s crucial meeting will seek to put to rest all the speculations by taken a firm decision on the future of the technical team.

Hearts have not won the league in the past three seasons and their inability to reclaim the crown this term will be seen as a major failure for a side that conquered Africa in 20001.
