Hearts, Goldfield Out, Kotoko Qualify

Accra Hearts of Oak crashed out of this year's Champions' League. The 2000 winners, were the only major casualty, as they were eliminated for the second successive year in the opening round. The Ghanaian club lost 3-1 away to Stade Malien from Mali in Bamako on Sunday to go out 4-2 on aggregate. (Details).

Obuasi Goldfield's CFA Cup hopes were cruelly ended at Conakry as Satellite won 2-1 and advanced on the away goals rule. The first match in Obuasi ended in a 4-3 victory for the mine boys, after leading 4-0.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko was the only bright spot for Ghana this weekend. The “oseikrom boys” marched convincingly into the next round of the cup winners cup after a 2-2 draw in Angola. Kotoko won the first leg 2-0 in Kumasi. (Details)
