Accra, (Greater Accra) 9 Nov.,

Accra, (Greater Accra) 9 Nov., Ghana's champion club, Accra Hearts of Oak thrashed the Zambian national team, Mighty Zambia 3-0 in an international friendly match played at the Accra sports stadium today. Skipper Nii Noi Dowuona, substitute Lukeman Olaya and Allan Kamwanga (own goal) scored for Hearts in the 74th, 87th and 89th minutes. The Zambians, who defeated Accra Great Olympics by a lone goal in a similar match last Wednesday could not stand the might of Hearts, who thrilled the fairly large crowd with a delightful soccer display. Hearts, however, found it difficult to translate their dominance into goals and had to wait until the 74th minute for Dowuona to convert a spot kick for their opening goal after the ball had hit the hand of Zambia's central defender Moses Sichone. Newly-recruited Olaya, who came on for striker Rashid Gariba, made it 2-0 in the 87th minute. He beat an off-side trap and dribbled goalkeeper Collings Mbuku to slot it into the empty net. Hearts mounted a last minute attack and Kamwanga in an attempt to clear right winger Kenneth Sarpong's cross misdirected it into his own net for Hearts' the third goal. The match forms part of the Zambians' West African tour in preparation for next year's African Cup of Nations in Burkina Faso.
