General Captain of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kofi Abanga, has appealed to the fans of the club to throw their weight behind the players in order to lift the team from the relegation zone.
The Phobians are firmly rooted second-from-bottom after 25 match-days in the 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premier League having suffered a 2-1 defeat at home at the hands of hitherto relegation-threatened candidates Kotoko.
However, ahead of Hearts of Oak league game against Liberty Professionals, the former Aduana Stars midfielder Kofi Abanga has appealed to the club fans to throw their weight behind the players in their quest to escape relegation.
“I am really in pain because a lot of our fans have been shattered. I think we cannot lose hope especially with the position we lie on the table. I hope and I want the fans to get on their feet, throw their weight behind us, and lift us from the place we find ourselves now,” Abanga told the club’s Audioboom.
He added: “I think after that we can look back but I strongly believe we have to put all our differences aside – I mean anybody who loves this great club should do that – because this is the time we need you [fans] the most.
"I want total support from the fans because some of our players' confidence is easily shattered when the fans refuse to rally behind them, so I will continue to beg the supporters to get up and stand by us and forget all that has happened”.
