One of the members of the Visco Walking Club, Ahmed Tijani Sanni of the Ghana Armed Forces, Navy came first in a competition organized by the Rotterdam Walking Club, in the town ZAANDAM.

It was a competition over 2 hours combined with 30.000 meter on the track. Sanni won both races very easily.

Soon after the start a leading group of 4 walkers was formed, Sanni being one of them.

Sanni walked within the leading group a time of 56.43 on the first 10 km. After 12 kilometers he broke away from the leading group and did the second 10 km in 52.28.5. In his last 10 km he speeded up again and he realized 52.09.9. He finished the 30 km in 2.41.21.4, well ahead of the first Dutch walker (a former Dutch champion on 20 km and 50 km) Pedro Huntjens who finished in 2.54.27.2. Sanni not only won the 30 km race, but also the competition over 2 hours. He real! ized 22.123 meters in 2 hours. On the second place the Dutch walker Richard Leijenaar did 21.455 meter.

Sanni was very disappointed that he could not realize this performance a week before in Switzerland, where he still had problems with acclimatisation. This was also the reason that he didn't want to push too hard in the first part of the competition in Zaandam.
