Former PRO for the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Mohammed Amin Lamptey, has taken a swipe at two of the nation’s most favourite clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko over what he described as poor management.

He believes the two teams must take a look at their administrative set-up because it is extremely poor.

‘’How can you convince me that, Accra Hearts of Oak was unable to renew the contract of a player? Why should the team not have a projection of the number of players leaving the team and those to replace them? He slammed the two teams for lacking the competence to motivate their players, assess their players, and replace the players.

‘’If the teams lacks the competence to do all these things, then we have a long way to go,’’ he told Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi on Total Sports Review on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Sunday.

Mr. Lamptey said football is now a ‘’big business’’ hence the need for the teams to appreciate that. ‘’The team managers we have in Ghana today, are incompetent, they lack managerial skills. What is their background? Administratively what have they learnt about management, he quizzed further.

‘’They cannot even manage themselves, let alone manage players…If you look at other Chief Executives, the least said about them, the better. Football is different from the normal business; you must have someone who understands football administration and the team he is managing. Your manager should be able to draft a long term plan for the team. We do not have all these things yet everyone is claiming to be a manager,’’ he said.

''If Hearts and Kotoko are listening then they should listen with rapt attention. Football is about planning, football is about organization, football is about money. Football is about thinking big...The two teams do not know what is in football. If they know, why have they failed to manage their teams and bought players? They have no idea what is going on in the world today. We are joking because football is about mathematics. The two teams are jokers. They don't know what they are about.''

The renowned broadcaster said, it was up the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and the nation Ghana, to realize that, if we indeed want to develop our football, ‘’let see how best we can help these traditional teams; it’s not about pampering them but it is about giving them a helping hand.
