Manager of Ernest Sowah, Nana Oduro Sarfo has dismissed reports his client was in talks to join Hearts of Oak prior to his move to Asante Kotoko.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper signed a three-year contract on Thursday to become Kotoko’s first big-name signing this off-season.

Sowah joined the Porcupine Warriors despite being heavily linked to join Hearts where he was considered as a viable alternative to Burkina Faso international Abdoulaye Soulama.

The former Berekum Chelsea goalkeeper was even featured in this week’s edition of the official newspaper of the Phobians as a potential signing in the coming days only to be hit with a sucker punch with Sowah signing for their bitterest rivals instead.

Manager of Ernest Sowah, Nana Oduro Sarfo has however revealed he was in talks with other interested club of which Hearts of Oak were surprisingly not part.

“I introduced Ernest Sowah to Hearts when he first returned to Ghana and that was it,” he told Asempa FM.

“They didn’t show any interest.

“Medeama made an offer and with the attraction of playing in Africa but we finally opted to go to Kotoko since they showed keen interest and I believe the profile of Kotoko will best fit Ernest Sowah.

“Hearts of Oak didn’t register any interest so I was surprised with reports Ernest Sowah was being tracked by Hearts.”

Hearts have had no joy so far in the transfer market this season despite claims of hitting the ground running.

Their signing of Latif Salifu appears to have fallen through after it emerged they had not reached an agreement with Berekum Chelsea to sign the player.
