Hearts of Oak holds National Chapters Assembly

Takoradi, Dec. 9, GNA - Mr. Neil Armstrong-Mortegbe, Chairman of the National Chapter Committee (NCC) of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Limited, on Saturday said there was the need for organizational discipline of the Club to be critically looked in view of the recent happenings within the organization.

He said the Club's Chapter organization has a very clear constitutional hierarchy which must be respected no matter differences of opinion among its supporters and management.

Mr Armstrong-Mortegbe said this at the 2006 annual National Delegates Assembly of the NCC under the theme, "The Role of the Chapter in Phobia Today" at Takoradi.

About 100 delegates from 35 active Chapters of the Club attended the one-day assembly.

Mr. Armstrong-Mortegbe said, "For the sake of building a stronger bond of unity, I will not mention any names or make reference to any specific case".

The Chairman said, "For the sake of posterity and to ensure organizational efficiency, we must preserve this structure with every fibre of our being" adding that, "We must be seen to be pulling together in one direction and not at cross-purposes". He said Chapter organization which is vital to the Clubs survival has been malfunctioning and it is about time to correct such malfunctions to enable the Club occupy its rightful place. Mr. Armstrong-Mortegbe said the time has come for radical measures to be applied to motivate the Chapters of the Club to be active participants in the development of the Club. He said, "It is therefore time for every Chapter of the Club to re-organise and re-orient itself towards the realities of current happenings."
