Hearts of Oak legend Mohammed Polo has called for the immediate sacking of coach Aboubakar Ouattara after the Phobians' shocking defeat to Premier League newcomers Basake Holy Stars.
The 1-0 loss at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Ghana Premier League opener has raised questions about the team's readiness for the season.
Polo, a revered figure at Hearts of Oak, criticised Ouattara for his failure to make a bold commitment to winning the league title.
Speaking to Bryt FM, Polo stated, “Aboubakar Ouattara cannot help Hearts of Oak because he lacks control and the spirit to lead the club."
"He nearly took the team to relegation last season. He deserves to be sacked for not being able to promise the Premier League title this season.”
The former Black Stars player is concerned about Ouattara’s ability to lead the team after narrowly avoiding relegation last season, and he believes the club needs stronger leadership to compete at the top level.
Hearts of Oak will face Heart of Lions in Kpando in their next Premier League match, with Ouattara under increasing pressure to turn things around.
