Accra Hearts of Oak National Chapters Committee (NCC) chairman, Elvis Herman Hesse, says the management of the team is engaging with the players over a salary pay cut due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has plunged a lot of football clubs into financial difficulties and Ghanaian players have been told to emulate their counterparts in Europe who have accepted a pay cut.

According to the NCC Chairman, running a football club in Ghana is very difficult and players should consider the club during these difficult times and accept a pay cut.

“Personally, I support the pay cut because to run a club in this country is not easy. It’s only when we play against Aduana, Asante Kotoko, AshGold, Liberty that we generate revenue. Sometimes, we don’t earn anything, he told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM.

“The players are not working and the services that they have to render for the club to pay them full salary is not there. If the players can agree to a pay cut it wont be a bad thing”.

“Management is engaging the players on it. I have had the opportunity to discuss with the players to accept this which I know will be temporal”, he added.
