Former player of Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko Charles Kweku Asampong Taylor has slammed the players of Hearts of Oak for the poor performance of the club in the Ghana Premier League in recent times.

Speaking to Esther Abankwa over the weekend on Angel TV's On the Turf show, Charles Taylor observed that the players of Hearts are not focused, committed and determined to help the club succeed. He added that if he was the coach of Hearts, he would have sacked most of the players of Hearts.

Known as the "Great Terror Taylor" in his heydays, Charles Kweku Asampong Taylor said most of the players of Hearts now are there by chance but not on merit. He said they don't deserve to wear the Rainbow Jersey. He noted that during his days, though there were owed bonuses at certain times, they did not allow it to affect them but were focused and determined to win laurels for the club.

"No former player of Hearts now is proud the club because of this poor performance. Some of these players are there by chance but not on merit. If you are playing for Hearts now and you not effective, then you useless. The players need to leave better legacy for themselves at the club. We are no longer playing, yet Ghanaians are always making reference to our days. They need to be devoted and know that if they play well, they would benefit and not the management," he said.

Charles Taylor further advised the players of Hearts of Oak to accept criticisms since it would help them succeed.

Charles Taylor was part of the Hearts Squad of 2000 that won the CAF Champions League after beating Esperance of Tunisia 5-2 on aggregate in the finals.
