Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy is on his way out of the club following the expiration of his contract, footy-Ghana.com understands. The 31-year-old, who joined the Accra-based side from Fetteh Feyenoord Academy in 2008, was earlier reported to have agreed to a contract extension last August but the deal looks to have fallen through.

Footy-Ghana.com understands the goalkeeper was offered a three-year extension worth a reported GH? 50 000 following the expiration of his contract last August.

However, sources say the deal has been rescinded due to a recommendation by the technical team not to go through with an extension for the goalie.

“We decided to part ways with McCarthy upon the advice of the technical team,” Public Relations Officer of the club Muheeb Saeed briefly told footy-Ghana.com. Meanwhile, Ghana’s No.1 football community portal understands some influential members of the club are trying to prevail upon Coach Herbert Addo to rescind his decision.

If that proves unsuccessful, McCarthy may well be on his way to fellow premiership side Heart of Lions.
