Hearts seek a third win in huge match day

Asante Kotoko are set to take on wounded Medeama on matchday three of the 2015-16 Ghana Premier League, while arch-rivals Hearts of Oak chase a third successive win in Cape Coast on Sunday.

Week three action, however, begins on Saturday when reigning champions Ashanti Gold take on Berekum Chelsea at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium. While the two teams’ last league encounter ended in a 2-2 stalemate at the home of the latter, the Miners boast of a slim advantage, thanks to a 1-0 win in their last meeting at the Len Clay Stadium.

Coach David Duncan is under immense pressure to bring Kotoko back to winning ways following their opening day defeat to Wafa. The Porcupine Warriors host Medeama, who are yet to pick a point this season, at the Baba Yara Stadium. Both sides’ previous league clashes ended in draws. Kotoko’s matchday two encounter with Ashanti Gold has been postponed to March 9.

At the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast, coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi will welcome back goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye when Hearts play guests to Ebusua Dwarfs. The Phobians would, however, miss the services of Samudeen Ibrahim and Richard Yamoah as they square off with Dwarfs, who are in search of their first point.

Bechem United will host New Edubiase at the Bechem Park as both sides strive for their second wins of the campaign. The former claimed a 3-1 win in their last league meeting at the venue.

Herbert Addo’s Inter Allies will hope to bounce back when they welcome in-form Dreams FC to the Tema Park. The Eleven-Is-To-One were handed a 2-1 defeat by Liberty Professionals last weekend. Newly-promoted Dreams, nonetheless, continued their impressive start with a 1-0 triumph over Bechem United.

Wa All Stars will undoubtedly come into their home game against Liberty Professionals with victory on their mind as they hope to consolidate their early lead at the summit of the league table. Enos Kwame Adipah’s outfit have scored four times without conceding in two wins this campaign.

Aduana Stars will go all out for a win when they play away to newly-promoted Techiman City. The Dormaa-based side are without a win this season, and this has led to the club parting ways with coach Nurudeen Amadu as well as assistant Kwabena Ameyaw on various grounds.

Finally, at the Sogakope Stadium, Wafa will have a mission to get their campaign back on track with a win over Hasaacas. The academy boys handed Kotoko a 2-0 defeat in their opener but suffered a setback in a 1-0 loss to Berekum Chelsea on matchday two. Hasaacas, meanwhile, come into the game in high spirits following last weekend’s 4-2 win over Techiman City.
