Hearts to play two friendly matches

Accra, June 22, GNA - Confederations Cup campaigners, Accra Hearts of Oak will this week-end engage two premier league sides in friendly football encounters in preparations towards their continental assignment.

Hearts are scheduled to play Ashantigold on Saturday, June 26, at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, after which they will take on Okwawu United at the Accra sports Stadium on Sunday, June 28.

Hearts are billed to play AS Douane of Senegal in the first leg of the Confederations Cup competition at the Accra Sports Stadium on July 11, with the second leg scheduled for July 31, in Senegal. The Phobians will seek to enter the maiden edition of the money zone of the Confederations Cup competition after failing to make it to the prestigious CAF Champions league when they lost on penalties to Etoile Sportive du Sahel of Tunisia.

The match against the miners will be the second time the two sides are meeting in the season in a friendly encounter, as both sides are in different zones of the novelty zonal premier league.

The Accra based team will also test their strength against Okwawu United for the first time in the season.

Hearts coach Ernst Middendorp who was reported to have abandoned the club recently, took over the technical affairs of the team in the early hours of Monday and is expected to lead the team in the two battles on Saturday and Sunday.

However, Hearts will miss the services of four of their key players, namely Dan Coleman, Dan Quaye, Amankwah Mireku and Sammy Adjei who are currently in Mozambique with the Black Stars in preparations towards the World Cup qualifying match against Uganda on July 4.

On the other hand, Ashantigold and Okwawu United will go into the two matches with the full compliment of their squads.

Meanwhile, Mr Ashford Tettey-Oku, Administrative Manager of Hearts has in a Press Release stated that an amount of 10,000, 20,000 and 30,000 will be charged at the Popular Stand, Osu and North wing and Upper Terrace respectively in their match against Okwawu United at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Wings and the VIP will go for 40,000 and 50,000 respectively.
