Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe has observed that the destinies of some players could be determined by their performance in matches between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Bekoe is one of many whose reputation recorded a remarkable rise after their performance in what is widely touted as Ghana’s El Classico.

At the peak of their prowess, the battle between Bekoe and Hearts Oak’s Daniel Coleman was always used to market the match and both players on all occasions lived up to the hype.

Speaking to GhanaWeb TV in an interview, the once GPL goal king winner asserted that the players need no external motivation to play their hearts out in such fixtures.

He noted that the nature of the game and rich history of rivalry between the two sides should serve as enough stimulus for players of both sides.

Bekoe likened the game to the final of Spain’s Copa Del Rey competitions which usually features either Barcelona and Madrid or both clubs in the final.

“Kotoko and Hearts are clubs of legacy. You live a very good legacy and print your name boldly on it. I don’t have to tell Yacouba, Felix Annan or whoever is coming to play that you are coming to play the Copa Del Rey final of the nation. This game can change your life, either to bad or good. So what legacy are you planning to live”.

Bekoe also backed his old club to beat Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

He urged team’s stalwart Sogne Yacouba to lead the team to victory over their rivals.

“Our key player is going through a lot so it will take something for him to produce magic on Sunday. Yacouba is the eye of both teams. It’s a Sogne Yacouba Copa Del Rey that we are going to play. So it depends on how they will psyche him to play. I know we’re are going to win because we deserve it and also because we’ve done enough preparations to win this one.
